Purpose¶
AR does not require every adopter to abandon existing vocabulary.
Instead, a profile may map existing fields, terms, classifications, or subject kinds into AR structural roles.
Mappings make those connections explicit, inspectable, and citable.
Types of Mappings¶
AR may use mappings for:
- field roles;
- field mappings;
- subject kinds;
- subject vocabularies;
- profile-specific classifications;
- external standards.
Boundary¶
Mappings preserve structural relationships.
They do not decide whether the mapped vocabulary is true, authoritative, complete, or universally correct.
